Dedicated to the feast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos (Little Lady's Day), it is a place of prayer, gathering, and the preservation of Orthodox tradition on the slopes of Mount Vlašić.
Beyond its spiritual significance, the temple plays an important cultural and social role. Every year, residents of Kneževo and the surrounding areas gather around it to celebrate the patron saint day of both the temple and the municipality, upholding a decades-long tradition of community and unity.
Unlike some older temples in the vicinity of Kneževo, available historical sources do not record a detailed chronology of the construction, destruction, and renovation of this temple. It is known that the church was built as a parish temple of the Serbian Orthodox Church to serve the needs of the faithful in the Kneževo region, and over the years, it has become a recognizable symbol of the town itself.
The temple belongs to the Eparchy of Banja Luka of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and through its work, it serves as a center for liturgical life, religious education, and numerous spiritual activities that bring together residents from the entire municipality.

The Feast of the Nativity of the Theotokos is celebrated with solemn services, liturgies, and gatherings of the faithful, and numerous churches throughout the Orthodox world are dedicated to this event. Among the Serbian people, Mala Gospojina is one of the most revered holidays and is frequently the patron saint day for churches, cities, and families, bringing believers together in prayer, fellowship, and gratitude.
