The Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in Dervishi is an Orthodox parish church belonging to the Diocese of Banja Luka.
In the area of Dervish, where part of Pazarov lives, there is the temple of the Assumption of the Most Holy Theotokos — the Serbo-Orthodox gate of the city of Banja Luka.
The existence of a temple in Dervishes is of a more recent character.
The church in the mentioned settlement was purchased in 2003, while the construction of the building began thirteen years later, in October 2016.
The construction of the temple lasted less than seven years, with the help of the parishioners of this place, the Diocese of Banja Luka, the institutions of the Republic of Srpska, the city administration of the city of Banja Luka, as well as believers from other parishes.
On September 24, 2024, the temple was consecrated by His Eminence Metropolitan of Banja Luka Fr. Ephraim and His Most Holy Bishop of Dalmatia Fr. Sava, with the presence of a large number of priests, believers and representatives of the republican and city authorities.
A year later, on November 9, 2025, the church hall and the foundations of the parish house were consecrated, thereby further fulfilling the spiritual needs of this parish.
The temple was built in the Serbo-Byzantine style, as a one-nave basilica of the inscribed cross.
The building has seven bell towers, a central dome and an altar part oriented to the east.
The interior of the temple is decorated with iconostasis, masonry and throne icons in woodcut, while the entire inventory is ennobled with Serbian coats of arms and hand embroidery.
The temple houses the throne icons of the Lord Jesus Christ on the Throne and the Mother of God the Mother of God (Pantanase).
Regular services include:
- akathist Mother of God the Mother of God on Thursdays at 6 p.m.
- akathist to the Lord Jesus Christ on Saturdays at 6 p.m.
The temple celebrates the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos (September 21). On this day the Holy Liturgy is celebrated every year, with the gathering of a large number of parishioners, both from this parish and from other parishes.
In addition to regular worship services, significant holidays are celebrated in the temple, molebans, evening and morning services, as well as spiritual lectures are held.
The temple represents an important place of spiritual gathering and gathering of the faithful of this part of the city.

The Blessed Virgin Mary was born to the grandparents of Joachim and Anna. Her father was from the tribe of David, and her mother from the tribe of Aaron. She was imperial by father and hierarchical by her mother, and thus represented the one who would be born of her, the Emperor and the High Priest. Already old Joachim and Anna prayed earnestly to God to give them a child, to give them joy to their hearts, which once pleased Abraham and Sarah by giving them their son Isaac. And God made them happy, giving them more than they could have dreamed of, not only a daughter, but also the Mother of God. Born in Nazareth, after three years the Blessed Virgin was taken to the Temple of Jerusalem to be educated, and soon heard the Annunciation of the Holy Archangel Gabriel that she would give birth to the Son of God.
